Lake LBj waterfront property, homes, and acreage
Area Information
Nestled in the center of the rolling hills in the Texas Hill Country, Kingsland is an unincorporated town of about 3,500 Texas-friendly residents and is located at the confluence of the Llano and Colorado Rivers which flow into Lake LBJ. With its relaxed, casual atmosphere, one would never guess its close proximity to two major hub cities – 65 minutes northwest of Austin and 85 minutes north of San Antonio. In fact, many people in these cities and other throughout Texas retreat to Kingsland for a breath of fresh air from “big city” living.

The mild winter climate, an average high of 62 degrees F., draws faithful “Winter Texans” from the northern states year after year while people far and wide come to enjoy the cool waters of the rivers and Lake LBJ in the summer months. The magic of springtime is truly a sight to behold when the roadways, fields and hills are transformed into nature’s art with blue, red, yellow and white wildflowers.

At an elevation of 1,628 feet, Packsaddle Mountain, aptly named because its silhouette resembles a saddle from varying views, is a notable landmark that is easily viewed from Kingsland. The story goes that it is the home to Los Almagres mine for which Jim Bowie searched for many years. Reports of traces of gold, silver and other minerals have been found in the sands of Honey Creek and along the mountainside.

Kingsland is a growing community; quality restaurants, bakeries, banks and other service industries are here along with many more in the nearby towns of Llano, Granite Shoals and Marble Falls.

Recreation
Lake LBJ and its arms of the Llano and Colorado Rivers are the highlighted recreation of the area. Lake LBJ is considered a controlled-level lake and is noted for its boating, waterskiing, jetskiing, fishing and swimming. Most waterfront homes have their own boatlift and visitors can take advantage of the many public ramps to boat up the Llano River, motor down the Colorado River or float on Lake LBJ all the way to Wirtz Dam, a distance of about 22 miles.

There are several golf courses to indulge one’s passion. The Legends on Lake LBJ is the most recent with a 7,260 yard 18 hole championship course in a beautiful scenic setting along the banks of the Colorado River. Packsaddle Country Club in Kingsland is popular with both locals and visitors and features an 18 hole public course. Other nearby golf courses include Blue Lake Golf Club, Horseshoe Bay Country Club, Llano River Golf Course, Delaware Springs near Burnet, Meadowlakes Country Club in Marble Falls and Highland Lakes Golf Course at Inks Lake.

Other recreational activities are wide and varied…hiking, camping and all outdoor activities draw visitors from all over. The community of Kingsland holds many events each year. It culminates in an incredible fireworks show over the Llano River that you can view by boat or by land.
